What is THIS about?
John Cardoza
John is a trail runner and loves to be outside. This probably stems from his many summers as a youth, backpacking and camping in the Yosemite area. His years of enjoying the open spaces of California and the West also helped him to understand the importance of conservation and preservation. Life takes turns and he found himself in a 20+ year career working with community banks in the Midwest. A few years back he left the financial world and decided to focus on personal happiness. This is when he met Laura.
Laura McCaskill
Laura has two companies in the medical space. Her goal has been to improve the delivery of healthcare. She has a great staff which has allowed her more time to pursue her passion of nature and environmental causes. After attending an area bird outing, she began to look around her home and realized that practically everything had a bird on it. This obsession had been going on longer than she realized.
Together
John & Laura came to learn how birds are a barometer of environmental health; and how helping birds, helps the environment; and vice versa. They knew of many local, environmentally focused non-profits and that several of those organizations were often in search of fundraising support. That’s when the Birds For Good idea was born – an online, nature-inspired store that would offer high quality merchandise to benefit not just the person buying it, but also the person who made it, all while providing a recurring funding source for environmentally focused non-profits.
Giving Back
Giving back is the mission. You will find a beneficiary non-profit organization listed with many items. Some items benefit a specific organization and for other items you may select the organization. In addition to unique, quality merchandise, Birds For Good also offers free educational materials and lists events that may be of interest to environmentally minded people. Birds For Good is about more than just birds and merchandise–it is about doing good things for people and the planet.
